Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch “Apollo 11 40th Anniversary” | 311.30.42.30.01.002

The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Ref. 311.30.42.30.01.002 was released in 2009 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing. Limited to 7,969 individually numbered pieces, the watch retains the traditional 42mm stainless-steel Moonwatch architecture while incorporating several details created specifically to honor the historic mission.

The matte black dial features the familiar Speedmaster Professional chronograph layout, but the running-seconds register at 9 o’clock incorporates a 925 silver medallion depicting the Apollo 11 mission patch, with the eagle descending toward the lunar surface carrying an olive branch. Beneath the Speedmaster Professional signature, “02:56 GMT” is printed in red, marking the time associated with Neil Armstrong’s first step onto the lunar surface. A red-tipped central chronograph seconds hand provides another subtle commemorative accent.

This example is accompanied by its Omega card and Apollo 11 commemorative medal. The original commemorative medal supplied with the stainless-steel edition measures 42mm in diameter and is made from 925 silver, featuring the Apollo 11 mission patch on one side and mission dates and “THE EAGLE HAS LANDED” detailing on the reverse.
