Tudor Submariner | 40mm Black Dial | Unpolished w/ Patina | Ref. 79090
The Tudor Prince Oysterdate Submariner Ref. 79090 is one of the most desirable neo-vintage Tudor dive watches, combining the classic Submariner design with the character of an early-1990s tool watch. Introduced in 1989, the Ref. 79090 was offered with either black or blue dial and bezel configurations and retained the traditional Oyster-style case, acrylic crystal, and Submariner-style hands that give this generation its unmistakably vintage appearance.
This example features the classic black dial and matching black rotating dive bezel, with luminous hour markers, Mercedes-style hands, center seconds, and a date window positioned at 3 o’clock beneath the Cyclops magnifier. The tritium luminous material has developed a subtle warm patina, adding attractive vintage character while remaining relatively understated.
Powering the watch is the ETA Calibre 2824-2, a robust automatic movement used extensively by Tudor during this period. The stainless-steel Oyster-style case was originally rated to 200 meters / 660 feet, while the folded-link Oyster-type bracelet and Fliplock clasp reinforce the model’s purpose-built diving heritage.
Condition
Please review the photos carefully for an accurate representation. This particular example is presented as unpolished, retaining the natural lines and proportions of the case along with normal surface wear acquired through age and use.
The dial and luminous elements display a slight natural patina, giving the watch a warm vintage appearance without being overly pronounced. Light scratches, bracelet wear, bezel wear, acrylic crystal wear, or other signs of age may be present and do not affect functionality. The watch presents especially well for a vintage sports model.
